China’s parliament approves new 5-year plan aimed at halting economic slowdown

The country has set 2020 as the target year to realize the "centenary goal" of building a moderately prosperous society in all respects, pledging efforts to double GDP, among others.

中国已经设定目标，将在2020年实现第一个百年目标，也就是全面建成小康社会，并且力争将GDP总值翻番。

In a bid to halt the continued economic slowdown, China’s parliament on Wednesday approved a new five-year plan, laying out the economic and social development blueprint that sets a target of an average annual economic growth of above 6.5%.A total of 2,778 lawmakers or 97.27% voted for the plan at the closing meeting of the annual session of the National People’s Congress (NPC)

为了阻止经济放缓，周三，中国的全国人民代表大会通过了最新五年计划，规划出未来经济社会发展蓝图，设置了年均经济增速高于6.5%的目标。在全国人民代表大会年度例会闭幕会议中，共有2778名代表投了赞成票，占比97.27%。

China has set 2020 as the target year to realize the "centenary goal" of building a moderately prosperous society in all respects, pledging efforts to double gross domestic product (GDP) and per capita personal income from the 2010 level before the CPC’s 100th anniversary of founding in 2021.

中国已经设定了到2020年完成第一个百年目标，也就是在2021年，中国共产党建党100周年前，实现全面建设小康社会，并且国民生产总值以及人均工资收入比2010年翻一番。

By 2020, the size of China’s economy is expected to exceed 90 trillion yuan (nearly $13.8 trillion) compared with 67.7 trillion yuan in 2015, according to the plan.

根据计划，到2020年，中国经济的体量和2015年67.7万亿人民币相比，预期将超过90万亿人民币（13.8万亿美元）。

The NPC which concluded its fortnight-long annual session also adopted charity law with 2,636 affirmative votes amounting to 92.49% of the total.

为期两星期之久的全国人大年度例会还通过了慈善法，大概有2636名代表投了赞成票，占总数92.49%。

The new law, adopted at the annual legislative session and to take effect in September, eases restrictions on fundraising and operations of charity groups, promises tax benefits for charitable activities and tightens scrutiny on their internal management.

在全国人大上通过的慈善法，将会在9月1日正式生效，该法律放松了对慈善募捐和活动的限制，承诺给予慈善活动免税优惠，并加强对慈善机构内部管理的监察。

The law stipulates how charities should be registered, giving approved charities more freedom in their operations. At present, only a few charities are allowed to raise money.

慈善法还规定了慈善机构如何注册，给予获准成立的慈善组织在其活动中更多自由。目前，仅允许少数慈善机构募集资金。
